The Splatter Room™ Questions

How long are the sessions?

A general ticket to The Splatter Room™ is 40 minutes painting time, plus 10 minutes each side for changing into the protective wear, and a quick briefing and washing after.

Please be prepared to be in The Splatter Room™ for at least 1 hour.

Under 8's tickets are 25 minutes painting time, with 10 mins each side for changing into the protective wear, and a quick briefing and washing after.

Do you provide instructions?

The Splatter Room™ is all about releasing your inner creative, and using the space to explore the freedom of making a mess! Therefore we do not guide you through the session.

We provide a demonstration at the beginning of the session to show you how to use certain tools and get the best effect, but ultimately it is up to you what you create.

We do offer Guided Splatter Sessions if you prefer to create a certain type of painting. Please contact us to find out more!

is there an age limit?

Yes, our minimum age to participate is 5 years old.

For our general tickets, children must be 8 years old or older. An adult (18+years) must stay on site at all times. We do also run an under 8's sessions at certain times, please ensure to read the listing to best suit your needs.

Please note, some of our sessions are adults only. If you book a child onto an adult paint event without prior warning, or they are under the specified age limit, it is up to our venues discretion whether the child is allowed to join the event. If you are unable to join, unfortunately we are unable to refund or transfer your tickets.

What should I wear?

******DRESS FOR MESS******

For The Splatter Room™, you're encouraged to wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting paint on. Although you're provided with basic PPE - the paint does go everywhere and it is not 100% coverage.

We're not responsible for any paint that may get on your clothes.

When do we take our artwork home?

Straight after your session!

We pop your painting into a pizza-style box so it can stay flat whilst it dries (usually 2-4 days)

Can I leave my artwork and collect at a later date?

No. We don't have storage facilities to keep everyones paintings to collect at a later date (with the exception of XL and XXL canvases)

Paintings are put into pizza-style boxes for easy transportation home until the painting is dry (usually 2-4 days)

Is there parking?

No. There is no direct parking for this venue, however there are carparks within a short walking distance. Either at Waitrose, The Common Car Park, or Swan Meadow Car Park.

Are there toilets onsite?

Yes, we have one customer toilet onsite which is located upstairs.

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?

No. At the moment our studio is not wheelchair accessible due to a small step leading into the building.

We are working on installing a wheelchair ramp so we can become accessible for all, once we have this installed we will update this section. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Paint & Sip Questions

Where are the classes held?

Our main studio is at 24 Gold Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1EJ.

We also host at many other locations in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. It's always best to check the individual listing for each exact location.

We always look to host in pubs, restaurants, cafes, and quirky places to provide something special for your night out!

How long do paint classes last?

Adult paint classes are 2 hours, with approximately 1 hour 30mins painting time, leaving enough time to add any tweaks to your painting at the end, socialise and view other attendees paintings!

For children's paint classes, they are 1 hour 30mins, with approx 1 hour paint time.

Is there an age limit?

Adult paint classes are for 18 years and older due to the alcohol available, the venues we use and pictures we paint. There is no upper age limit though!

Our children's classes are aimed at those aged 8 -16 years, with parents encouraged to join their little ones!

Please note: Paint Classes are specified whether they are adults only (18+ years) or suitable for children. If you book a child onto an adult paint night without prior warning, it is up to our/the venues discretion whether the child is allowed to join the class. If you are unable to join, unfortunately we are unable to refund or transfer your tickets.

Are the photos on the website the ones we'll be painting?

Yes! We always try to upload the paintings we'll be doing for each class ahead of time so you can pick the best venue and date that suits your taste.

If there is no painting available for the date you're looking at, it means we're still working on it! You can contact us for more information or keep checking back on the website.

I haven't painted before - does that matter?

Absolutely not! Our paint classes are tailored for absolute beginners. So even if you've never picked up a paintbrush, or haven't dabbled since you were at school, you'll still come away with a painting you're proud of!

We go through each painting layer by layer, slowly building up the details and we're there to help you each step of the way.

What if I don't like my artwork?

We encourage everyone at our classes to lean into their own creativity. Everyone creates art differently, and we always like to see the positives to each piece our class makes.

You can always paint over the canvas and try again in your own time, or come along to another class to try some different techniques!

What should I wear?

Anything you like! Just remember that this is a paint class, accidents can happen and even though you're supplied with an apron, there is still a possibility of paint getting on your clothes - so just bare that in mind!

We're not responsible for any paint that may get on your clothes.

Is there parking?

This depends on the venue.

Our Paint Classes are hosted at various locations in Essex, Cambridge, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. It's best to check the individual listing of the event you're planning on booking to check parking.
